Foundation Spotlight šŸ«šŸ’« - August Story

1 min read

August is a bright and fiery 6-year-old boy living with cystic fibrosis. He has spent much of 2026 in the Intensive Care Unit fighting a multi-drug-resistant Pseudomonas infection.

In May, August was transferred to a higher level of care so a specialized infectious disease team could treat him. Within three weeks, his condition worsened, and he went into acute respiratory failure and was placed on ECMO. Just two days later, August was listed for a double lung transplant. August spent a month on ECMO and also underwent a tracheotomy. Today, he continues to spend his days in the ICU, working hard through physical therapy and rehabilitation to regain his strength.

Despite everything he has been through, August is still working toward his first-grade year with tutoring in the hospital. For now, August and his family are taking things one day at a time and waiting for the call that could change his life.
